Many of the so called “health authorities” have been adding Fluoride to our drinking water since the 50s when the advocates of fluoride won the battle for its inclusion in our public water supplies. Fluoride occurs naturally in many of the foods we that eat as well as the environment and soil. It occurs in trace amounts and we are adapted to consuming these amounts in our diets. A certain amount of fluoride is essential to keep our teeth and bones strong.

You might think that this supplementation is a sensible idea. However, since the addition of fluoride to our drinking water there has been a directly related increase in the number of bone and joint related health problems recorded over the last 50 years. Numerous studies in different countries shave been conducted over the threat which fluoride poses to diseases such as arthritis, bone cancer and dental flourosis. Interesting the countries that decided not to add fluoride to the water have experienced similar decreases in dental treatments such as fillings as achieved by those who added fluoride. These improvements have been attributed to better standards of oral hygiene and not to the addition of fluoride shooting down the main argument advanced to support its addition.

Where the added fluoride content was 1.5mg, hip joint sufferers reported an increase in pain and stiffness while drinking fluoridated water. The risk of bone fracture increased and it triggered more serious health problems, including damage to the brain and thyroid gland!

Skeletal fluorosis is another bone and joint condition is associated with prolonged exposure to high concentrations of fluoride such as the ones found in drinking water. It causes fragile bones to have lower tensile strength. It is not easily recognizable until it reaches its advanced stage. In its early stages, its symptoms may resemble those of arthritis. Fluoride decreases bone density and appears to aggravate the growth of osteophytes present in the bone and joints, resulting in joint stiffness and pain.

Further studies have now confirmed a dramatic increase in bone cancer in young males exposed to fluoride during growth of the bones and a 5% increase in all types of cancers in fluoridated communities. Fluoride also can have a deleterious effect on bone growth and cause premature joint and ligament ageing. Because fluoride causes bones to become brittle they are more prone to experience more fractures. Joints which occur around diseases or fractured bones are evidently affected.

The conclusion is that we do not really need fluoride in our drinking water as it carries too many risks that we cannot overlook. There are many misleading facts regarding fluoride and one needs to be weary of profit seeking companies who persuasively promote the consumption of fluoride. A number of years ago a book was published called “The fluoride conspiracy”. This is a factual account of the various games that were played and the deliberate misinformation around the benefits of adding fluoride. This is a frightening book and would be worthy of an x files episode if it wasn’t true! This is still available and is well worth reading.

If the water in your area has been fluoridated there are certain filters which will reduce the amount of fluoride in water. Many of the standard jug filters won’t remove this. You tend to need a distiller, although there are a number of commercial products designed delibrately to remove flouride and disinfection by-products. Some people may have also access uncontaminated spring water. Pure drinking water is a precious resource and we need to what we drink to safeguard against many of today’s more serious health problems.

Elbow pain can be caused by a variety of problems especially when active people are involved. Since the elbow is one of those complex joints which enables a variety of movement, injuries can also be quite varied. Most elbow pain comes from people who play racquet sports as they are more likely to injure the tendons on the outside of the elbow. If there is repeated pressure on the elbows or continuously carrying heavy loads, this will most likely cause eventual pain.

If you are experiencing elbow pain constantly even when you are not using your arm, maybe you should have it checked out. It can make doing simple tasks very challenging and unable to position your hands properly. It can actually hinder a whole range of movements including opening the fingers, making a fist or straightening the arm. While some elbow pain can be treated quite effectively at home using ice packs to reduce inflammation, some elbow pain might be a sign of an underlying problem.

Tennis elbow is probably the most common causes of elbow pain. This can be caused by overuse or there may be partial tears of the tendons which connect the muscle to the bone. Usually you will experience inflammation and soreness in and around the elbow. Extension of the wrist against resistance increases the pain.

Arthritis is also a common cause of elbow joint pain classified by swelling and tenderness of the area. In this instance joint pain is usually caused by degradation of the cartilage and supporting joints. One might also experience a bit of stiffness with very little mobility.

A more traumatic injury is a fractured elbow joint. When the elbow joint is fractured you will feel severe pain immediately after the injury. In some instances there may be damage caused to the joint cartilage. There will be local tenderness in the elbow joint along with reluctance to move the joint due to pain. This should be checked by a doctor as soon as possible.

Golfers elbow is also a common overuse injury. It is also commonly known as a pitchers elbow or little league elbow. There is general pain of the elbow joint when there is resistance against wrist flexion. The pain is on the muscles in front side of the elbow since you use these muscles to twist the wrist when playing golf.

The ligaments which hold and support the joints can sometimes tear and cause an injury called ligament sprain. In certain circumstances, when an injury in the bones of the spine aggravates the nerves in the arms, the pain gets transferred to the elbow.

Depending on the kind of elbow pain you have there will be various possible treatments. Try bracing the knee for extra support or use hot and cold therapies. For minor pain, message can help ease tension to the muscles. Taking pain killing drugs and inflammatory medication should be done cautiously. Your doctor may also suggest flexibility and strengthening exercises. Often the best thing to do is just give the elbow a rest and resume activities when the pain is gone.

One questions that we frequently get asked is if you should stop exercising when you have painful joints? Generally, if a particular form of exercise has caused the injury or pain, then you need to give your body time to recover. However, this advice is often misinterpreted.

Many sports are high impact and these repetitive movements can cause inflammation and pain. The key to stopping the pain is to take a break from what ever caused the problem. However, you should not totally stop exercising either.

We saw a good article about this recently.

http://www.naturalnews.com/020621.html

Even though exercise is the last thing you want to do when suffering from painful joints, it can actually be the best treatment to relieving your pain. The body needs to have constant movement. After all, that’s how we are designed. There is an old chinese saying that your joints are like hinges. If you don’t move them, they seize up!

Low impact exercises are a good way to start and maintaining supple muscles and overall fitness. I can recommend swimming and cycling which give you an overall body workout without putting too much pressure on your joints.

Don’t stop being active. Your active life doesn’t have to end when you have arthritis. The worst thing you can do is sit and do nothing. That will most probably lead to more pain and stiffness.

The key is maintaining regular joint movement in all areas of the body and keep your cardiovascular health in shape. A regular boost to the oxygen throughout your body will rejuvenate cells and joints driving toxins out of your body.

If you suffering from joint problems, you have probably tried a variety of treatments to reduce the pain and swelling. If you haven’t come across hyaluronic acid injections, it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor about the available options. It is also an ideal option for patients who want follow and more natural approach to their healing with fewer side effects.

Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in all living organisms and is a common component of the spaces between the cells of body tissues. It occurs naturally in our joint fluids. Hyaluronan is a thick protective liquid responsible for creating a cushioned environment for our joints. It lubricates and reduces friction between bones so that you have pain free movement. It is also a sort of shock absorber since it decreases the impact you feel when you walk.

Because people suffering from joint problems have thinner hyaluronic acid and thus experiencing pain when they do activities, the best solution is to replace the hyaluronic acid by injecting it straight into the joint as a means of providing temporary pain relief. Supplements of hyaluronic acid are a more recent version and have been found to also stimulate the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid. Increased hyaluronic acid production relieves joint pain and inflammation and promotes healing.

Hyaluronic acid joint injections are quick and relatively painless. The procedure is simple. Hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the cavity around the knee joint. A typical course of treatment is one injection a week for three to five weeks. They can help keep the pain away for 6 months to a year and sometimes longer. If you are considering using hyaluronic acid, try and have an open mind, since it works better in some people than others

The advantage of hyaluronic acid joint injections is that the side effects are mild with the most common one being swelling and discomfort at the site of the injection. So if your other only option is surgery, hyaluronic acid injections are worth a try. The injections are expensive so it’s best to consult with your medical aid to see if they are going to cover you.

We are currently researching the effectiveness of some new and exciting products based upon this which may avoid the need for injections. Please watch this space!

Chorella

Is one of the few superfoods that can really help improve joint problems. There are not many foods which pass for being the ultimate super food but Chlorella has made it right up there with the best of the best.

Chlorella is a special freshwater algae that contains a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and all amino acids known to be essential for the nutrition of animals and human beings, that it’s considered to be nearly a perfect whole food. Chlorella also happens to be the richest source of chlorophyll on earth and to put it mildly, an extremely effective Superfood with a large variety of disease busting proteins and nutrients. It has been shown to activate the limited number of macrophages that scavenge and digest cancer cells, foreign proteins and chemicals.

It has a very long list of health benefits which include: increased production of interferon (an antiviral protein produced by cells that have been invaded by a virus & in turn inhibit replication of the virus); cleansing the blood stream, liver, kidneys, and bowel; stimulating the production of red blood cells; increasing oxygen to your body’s cells and brain. Chlorella aides digestion; promotes proper growth in children; stimulates tissue repair; helps raise the pH of your body to a more alkaline state; helps keep the heart functioning normally; and helps promote the production of friendly flora in your gastrointestinal tract.

Chlorella contains an abundant supply of fatty acids and 20 per cent of these are omega-3 fatty acids, which is why it plays a significant role in joint related problems. Studies have shown Chlorella to be highly effective in treating fibromyalgia, whose primary symptoms involve inflammation or pain in joints and muscles, often accompanied by fatigue. Consumption of Chlorella has had astounding results on all kinds of joint pain, stiffness, numbness and tingling. It also seems to help people with some nerve pain problems. This is probably due to Chlorellas’ outer wall contain glucosamine which is very important for health cartilage, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues.

One of the most popular ways that Chlorella has been used for today is a detoxifying agent. It goes without saying that detoxifying our bodies is vital to the health of our bodies so why not use this Super detoxifier. It contains a large amount carotenoids, magnesium, and chlorophyll which are highly effective cleansing and protective agents. In between stimulating our immune system & inhibiting cancer cells, Chlorella also seems to be particularly effective in eliminating toxic metals like cadmium, mercury and uranium from our bodies.

There is just no end to the health benefits of Chlorella and it would be crazy not to include it as part of our daily diet. It might just be the perfect solution to our refined foods, nutrient-poor diets and toxic environment.

“Clicking Joints” is a catch all term used to describe a wide range of joint problems that make odd noises when your joints are moved. There is no single cause for these noises and indeed the nature and location can give you many clues into the nature of the problem. There is also a lot if misinformation on the Internet about clicking joints.

Depending on the exact nature of your clicking joints, the implications can range from harmless through to being a serious warning sign that there is a problem needing treatment. There are literally dozens of causes.

One of the commonest explanations is that the clicking is caused by nitrogen bubbles in your joints. There are X-rays and ultrasound videos that show for some people, the problem is caused by the expansion of the joint causing a vacuum. Effectively as your joint expands, there is an empty space that gets stretched and at a certain point is sucks in Nitrogen from the surrounding tissues which causes a loud pop. It won’t often make this noise again for a period of 30 minutes or so.

Whilst this is true in some cases, it does not cover the vast majority of noises where the symptoms rule out this as a cause. Pain is usually an indicator of more deep routed cases. Also if you are doing an exercises repeatedly and you get noises most of the time, this is definitely not what is causing the problem.
