Fibromyalgia: Illuminating the mystery disease

Having fibromyalgia can be very confusing and frustrating at times. Part of the mystery surrounding fibromyalgia is that it is classified as a syndrome rather than a disease. The word “fibromyalgia” comes from the Latin term for fibrous tissue (fibro) and the Greek ones for muscle (myo) and pain (algia). It is mainly classified by a constant and widespread muscle pain on specific tender points on the body.
Many medical practitioners still find it difficult to diagnose fibromyalgia because it is often a misunderstood condition with many symptoms that are common in other diseases as well. It often takes more than one practitioner to correctly make a diagnosis based on a number of factors and close symptom monitoring of the person concerned. The most common symptoms of fibromyalgia are:
- Constant fatigue where the body and brain are suffering from a total lack of energy. Symptoms range from mild to extreme exhaustion.

Question about Methotrexate …?
I undifferentiated mixed connective tissue disease. I tested positive for the syndrome Sjögren few years back, but it is not primary. This means that I have either lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. I took plaquenil for 4 years and had some toxicity. My dose was decreased and started treatment with methotrexate in August. I am taking 10 mg. I noticed small (very, very minor) improvement of joint swelling. He seems to have a good 2-3 days a week, but still have swelling considerable in my joints. I see my rheumatologist in 3 weeks, but I thought I could ask someone who took methotrexate for see how long it took them to know that it works. My main complaint is fatigue. I'm exhausted and I do not think that fatigue is worth improving minimal. If someone takes the time MED can give me some advice, I'd be very happy. Should I hang in there? I am also doing homeopathic treatments and therapy doc and Aqua 2-3x per week.
I have systemic lupus. I did not take methotrexate, but did not receive intravenously in the hospital with steroid pulse. I had a failure of the bone marrow of lupus and a very high sed rate, including pericarditis and other things. I take plaquenil too. I have been off prednisone for 6 months. I always mycophenolate mofetil, Cellcept, lupus kidney disease. It is difficult to know if the medication or illness make you tired. Mixed autoimmune connective tissue are extremely something to manage. I hold on until your rheumy. Keep a diary of your activities and your symptoms. You may see some connections and this review will very useful for your rheumatologist. Please be sure to tell all your doctors and practitioners what others are doing. If you have a good relationship Work with your rheumatologist, you should be able to talk about your homeopathic and other complementary treatments with him or her. If you do can not speak openly, get another doctor. The stress of illness and its management are sufficient to bring on fatigue. Add to this the fact that the disease itself because of fatigue and it is not surprising that you feel that way.
